Literature Review. My Research Is Related To Three Streams

Literature Review My research is related to three streams of extensive work. The first stream studies the impact of e-books on print book sales. E-books have existed for more than 20 years and their emergence has been discussed for more than a decade. Claudia Loebbecke stated that â€Å"the emergence of e-books and e-readers are likely to change the book industry structure and pose new opportunities and challenges for publishers and vendors†(2010). Hardware manufacturers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have already entered the book industry and they may outpace the traditional industry players in the creation of new business models for digital content. Compared with print books, the advantages of e-books are†¦show more content†¦Nevertheless, Li Hui finally stated that â€Å"the impact of e-book on print book sales through cannibalization or market expansion remains controversial to both practitioners and academics†, which means whether e-books are cannib alizing print books is still at issue. As a market leader and innovator of a new business model in e-books in the STM area, Springer publishes over 4,000 books titles annually and all of them are converted into e-books without exception. It once conducted a study on the implications of the Springer e-book collection in comparison to its print book activities. In this study, the researchers Wouter van der Velde and Olaf Ernst aimed to find out whether e-books are cannibalizing print books, as well as an assessment of factors that are influencing e-book usage. In consequence, they revealed that â€Å"students and researchers are convinced about the success of e-books because of accessibility and ease of use; however, they perceive reading from the computer or PDA screen as difficult† (2009). In other words, print books are still preferred in some certain situations. Furthermore, the assessment of both e-book usage as well as print book sales in some specific countries (Germany, Turkey and Greece), where Springer has a large eBook-penetration, shows that â€Å"not only its usage growing dramatically, the print business is not being cannibalized by eBooks, and in some cases, specifically the three countriesShow MoreRelatedA Structured Literature Review And Comparative Analysis Of Similarities And Differences Of Value Stream Mapping7350 Words   |  30 Pages STRUCTURED LITERATURE REVIEW AND COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES OF VALUE STREAM MAPPING IN CONSTRUCTION AND MAFUCTURING INDUSTRY A Thesis by Yaxu li Submitted to the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies of Texas AM University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE Chair of Committee, Jos?
